Volunteer Filmmakers of Foster Friends Films and Projects

Dave Penn
Executive Producer, Director, and Screenwriter

As an adoptive father, adoption advocate, and founder of one of the Heart Gallery nonprofit adoption photography exhibit projects, Dr. Penn has helped over 100 children find their forever family through adoption. He the former executive director, executive producer, and vice president for academic affairs at the Digital Animation and Visual Effects (DAVE) School located on the production backlot of Universal Studios Florida. He has produced various live action and animated short films, including an animated book trailer short film based on a children’s fable (The Thief of Always) that was nominated for two Emmy® Awards and won an Emmy® Award for graphic arts and animation. Penn also won an Emmy® Award for Arts and Entertainment Programming and producing The Dream Catcher, an animated short film about dreaming away monsters. Penn volunteers for Foster Friends Films and Projects in order to foster friends through inspirational films and related projects. A graduate of UCLA and Harvard, Penn holds a Ph.D., Ed.D., and teaching credentials in multiple fields, including digital film and television production, education, science, and business.

Lisa Tennant

Lisa Tennant received her MFA in watercolor painting from Eastern Michigan University. She has received a number of awards for her paintings and graphic design, and her illustrations have been published in a number of venues. Looking to tell the story of her daughter’s adoption through illustrations, she fell into the wonderful world of children’s book writing and illustration. This is her first children’s picture book. Ms. Tennant resides in Florida with her family.

Jeremiah Baumbach

Jeremiah Baumbach is an Emmy® Nominated Cinematographer with over 15 years of experience in the entertainment industry. He has been a digital media trainer at the college level for over a decade. He is a graduate of the UCF Film program.




Our team of volunteer filmmakers also includes animators, actors, and editors.
